“Rob was very patient with me starting out in my 50s. He found out what I wanted to learn and each week went through a piece of music which taught me so much about chords and licks. Sending me a backing track to learn the piece to for the next lesson made it so easy. I moved on more in a few weeks than I had in years. Well recommended!”

"Rob is a great guitarist and tutor who has a lucid and patient teaching style. He listens attentively and happily shares his wealth of knowledge. I started to learn guitar 2 years ago with Rob and I am am really glad I took the step. He has given me the confidence to play to others, but more importantly, it is now a hobby that I will always have. I first started trying to play guitar on my own when I was a teenager, then again at 30 and 40, but I gave up everytime, very quickly, through the frustration of not seeing results. It was't until I was recommended to Rob by a friend of mine, that I finally got results I needed, through his patient guidance and his sense of humour, which always helps someone like me! Thanks Rob."

"Rob was my guitar teacher for around 10 years and during that time, there was always something new for him to teach me. In that time, I never thought about going to any other teacher. Whenever I wanted to learn new styles or change the type of lesson, whether it was theory or practical, Rob would always have examples, songs and techniques to teach me, no matter the genre or style. He also always took a massive interest with what i was learning outside the lessons, so he could help me progress even more in music. I would highly recommend him."

'Brandon went to Rob for guitar lessons for two and a half years from the age of eight and benefited enormously from the experience. He developed his guitar playing skills from those of a virtual beginner to a fairly competent guitarist. He also developed in his understanding and appreciation of music so that he could identify aspects of guitar playing that he heard. Brandon was excited and enthused to hear and play known songs from artists such as Ed Sheeran, Arctic Monkeys, Jimi Hendrix; he loved listening to Chuck Berry in the car. Rob also introduced him to classical pieces such as Hall of the Mountain King and jazzy music such as The Entertainer. Brandon was proud of his growing repertoire and liked an audience! We are grateful to Rob for not only teaching technique but also inspiring ongoing appreciation of music and tailoring his teaching to the individual.

Rob is a nice guy and it's easy to make arrangements, including the inevitable flexibility which is needed at times. Communication is achieved via text and email in addition to face-to-face. Rob offers an excellent service at a competitive rate and is much recommended.'

"Rob started to teach my youngest son when he was 9 years old. I was impressed with how well Rob communicated with him and the type of music my son learnt to play as he taught him to play some of his favourite songs which is important to keep a child interested."

"Since then, Rob has taught myself to play guitar and my oldest son to play bass. He is now a semi-professional musician in two York based bands and writes his own music thanks to Rob’s tutoring."
